Anarchy?

Okay... I take back my previous comment where I said, Australia is same old... same old, because as I witnessed today it was filled with head-wrenching, heart-puming events. First of all, there was lots of tension watching sharapova playing Kim at the Australian open... where she almost lost! but unfortunately she prevailed... then having sat in the scorching 39 degrees weather for most of the day, my family decided to go swimming. We had to fetch some togs from the plaza because most of us had no idea where we placed them...

I was looking for decorations for my 21st, asking the consultant this and that, and was ready to make a purchase when all of sudden... the electricity went off. So you stand there, thinking... did the fuse blow? Okay just a few seconds and it'll come back on. Nope! after 10mins the lights were still off. We started looking for other members of our family walking the path of the mall, watching as, shop assistants barricade entrance into shops and usher everybody out. One jewellery shop took a seat from middle of the walk way and put it against the entrance... I 'thought it was strange? Why didnt they just pull the doors down? But I walked on... and everyone was on their phones, the rest, looking slightly perplexed... probably thinking: "can I stay or go?"

After mooching around with my family and figuring out what was goin on... we whisk out of the mall to a mad rush of cars pulling out of the parking space. Then as the car strolled down the road, there was complete anarchy. No traffic lights. No order. Just cars... just hope that people arent driving recklessly and will let other traffic in. Of course it only took half an hour to get from dandenong plaza to my uncles house - which normally would've only taken a minute or two. So yeah! it was quite scary but at the same time, gives you lots of faith in your community... because in a time where ppl could've easily looted and cause a big riot, ppl seem calm and composed, and just making their way home. A bit confused and rushing... but arent we all? There were a few car accidents coming out of the main plaza road, but it was inevitable. That intersection is chaos even with traffic lights.

After all this I found out that bushfires had caused the massive blackouts, and over half a million ppl were affected....maybe some are still affected. Fortunately my house was beyond the blackout grid section :)

Uh! another day in Melbourne. Really excited to find out what will happen next :)
